ACOUSTICAL FINISH SYSTEM

SonaSpray “fc” begins with uniquely prepared cellulose fibers combined with natural fire retardants in a strict, quality-controlled manufacturing process producing a Class 1, Class A rated material.

SonaSpray “fc” is then applied from 1/2” up to 1” thick by an international network of professional contractors licensed by ICC. During application, the SonaSpray “fc” fibers combine with a water-based adhesive producing a durable exposed finish with exceptionally high bond and compression strength.

Sound Control

Offering a more refined finish, SonaSpray “fc” is the ideal solution for noisy environments where aesthetics and performance are key. A typical installation of 1/2″ thick on solid backing can reduce excessive noise by 65%.

This superior acoustical performance is measured using the room reverberation method per ASTM C 423 to calculate a noise reduction coefficient (NRC). SonaSpray “fc” significantly reduces reverberation time to improve ambient sound quality and speech intelligibility. Typical projects include gymnasiums, open-plan offices, schools, worship centers, restaurants, and hotels.

Located in Amsterdam’s vibrant Theatre District, Hotel V Nesplein combines luxury accommodations with a distinctive, design-forward aesthetic. To enhance acoustic comfort in the lobby, reception, and restaurant/bar areas, SonaSpray “fc” was applied to the exposed concrete ceilings, absorbing excess noise and reducing reverberation in these active social spaces. Produced in a custom color exclusively for the hotel, the acoustical finish seamlessly integrates with the property’s unique interior design while creating a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for guests.

SUSTAINABILITY

SonaSpray “fc” is made from 80% Pre-Consumer Recycled Content and inventoried to 1,000 PPM in accordance with the HPD Collaborative.

SonaSpray “fc” is UL GREENGUARD Gold certified and compliant with LEED v4: Low-Emitting Materials, CDHP/California Section 01350, SCAQMD Rule 1168, and CHPS – Acoustical Ceiling. Additionally, SonaSpray “fc” provides high light-reflectivity, superior acoustical performance, and may contribute to sustainable credit categories for green-building initiatives.
SonaSpray “fc” does not contain silica dust, asbestos, mineral or glass fibers, or PCBs.

    SonaSpray “fc” meets IBC 2009 Section 803.10 Stability requirements for Interior Finish materials.

DURABILITY

The adhesive used to apply SonaSpray “fc” provides a durable and resilient bond. SonaSpray “fc” will resist impact and abrasion without cracking or spalling, often typical with cementitious or plaster-based materials.

In projects requiring additional durability, SonaSpray “fc” Dura-K may be specified to result in even greater bond and compressive strength without reducing the acoustical performance.

SUBSTRATE COMPATIBILITY

Our patented water-based adhesive adheres to virtually any properly prepared substrate and ceiling configuration including metal deck, barrel-vaults, concrete “T” corrugated decks, gypsum, wood, concrete, and other complex surfaces.

Surfaces to receive SonaSpray “fc” are to be inspected prior to installation to determine if pretreatment is required.
